Open Pool Season

The pool officially opened on memorial day weekend, but it hasn't been hot enough to go until this past weekend.  We had about five days of in the 90's.  Ah, the perfect weather.  Side note, I am part lizard- as in I love hot/sunny weather.  Big guy is much the same.  And the two of us are total water babies.  So, I knew on sunday that we had to go to the pool to swim and soak up our vitamin D!

On weekends, the pool opens at 11am.  We got there exactly at 11:02 and there were people already swimming!  We staked out a spot close to the little kid pool, but not in the fence for the little kid pool. Since big guy doesn't wear diapers anymore, he gets to go into the big kid pool!!  WE plopped down our stuff and I asked big guy: "What pool do you want to swim in?  Little pool or big pool?"  And he yelled, "BIG POOL!" and then started making his way towards the big pool.

The nice thing about the big pool is that it was a slanted entry into the pool that goes up to about three feet of water and there are some fun water spouts.  So, big guy is able to walk into the pool all by himself and can play in a good amount of space with the other kids who can't swim into the deep part yet either.  We played in that area for about fifteen minutes before big guy grabbed me and said, "mommy, swim!"  WE then spent the next hour practicing swimming.  Throwing our ball and going to get it.  Big guy also liked getting out of the pool, walking over to the steps while I swam over to them, and then jump into my arms!  It was just awesome.

Then we hopped out and had some lunch.  Following lunch, which big guy scarfed down, we used the potty and applied more sun block.  We then took some of our toys and went to the little pool.  We did about a half hour of little pool fun before big guy decided we needed more big pool goodness.  WE did another hour of big kid pool before it began to rain.  We grabbed our stuff and ran to the changing room.  We peed and then changed into real clothes.  Following a short run to the supermarket, we made it home about 2:45.  It was a totally awesome way to start our summer!
